From volcanic peaks to turquoise lagoons — an easy, scenic crossing between Creole islands.
A Mascarene Adventure Between Volcanic Peaks and Coral Lagoons
Framed by coral reefs and crowned by volcanic mountains, Mauritius and Rodrigues embody the Indian Ocean’s rare balance of natural drama and effortless beauty. The Mauritius & Rodrigues Voyage is a gentle blue-water passage between two islands that share French-Creole heritage yet feel worlds apart — Mauritius, refined and cosmopolitan; Rodrigues, unhurried and timeless. This voyage follows a rhythm of discovery and ease: snorkelling over coral gardens, hiking to forested peaks, dining in lagoons where reef meets reef. It’s a family-friendly adventure of sailing, island exploration, and Creole culture — where every horizon is turquoise and every evening ends with music drifting across the sea.
Day 1 – Port Louis Embarkation (Mauritius)
Board your yacht at Caudan Waterfront Marina in Port Louis. After a warm welcome and safety briefing, cruise along the west coast to Tamarin Bay. Watch spinner dolphins ride the bow waves before a sunset dinner on deck beneath the Le Morne mountain silhouette.
Day 2 – Le Morne & Black River Gorges
Anchor off Le Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Go ashore to hike the lower slopes of the basalt peak or visit Chamarel’s Seven-Coloured Earths. Afternoon swim and paddleboard session in the lagoon, followed by a Creole-style barbecue on the beach.
Day 3 – Flic-en-Flac & Blue Bay Marine Park
Sail around the southern coast to Blue Bay (≈30 nm), known for its vivid corals and calm waters. Snorkel directly from the yacht or dive the marine park’s coral gardens. The chef prepares a tropical dinner featuring local red snapper and pineapple chutney.
Day 4 – Île aux Cerfs & Grand River South East
Anchor off Île aux Cerfs, Mauritius’s iconic sandbar island. Spend the morning swimming, parasailing, or golfing ashore, while younger guests enjoy guided treasure hunts with the crew. Afternoon visit to the waterfalls of Grand River South East.
Day 5 – Mahebourg & Grand Port Marine Park
Explore the historic port of Mahebourg, home to charming colonial streets and a lively market. Visit the National History Museum before a guided snorkel through Grand Port’s protected lagoon, rich in coral and seagrass meadows. Evening sail eastward.
Day 6 – Offshore Passage to Rodrigues
Set a course for Rodrigues (≈300 km / 160 nm), the only blue-water leg of the journey. Guests can take part in navigation with the captain or relax under shade on deck. Dolphins often appear along this passage. Dinner under the stars midway at sea.
Day 7 – Arrival in Rodrigues Lagoon
Enter Rodrigues’ vast turquoise lagoon through its narrow pass. Anchor off Port Mathurin, where the pace of life slows to another era. Go ashore to stroll through the market, sampling vanilla, honey, and local preserves.
Day 8 – Île aux Cocos Nature Reserve
Tender to Île aux Cocos, a protected seabird sanctuary. Walk along its pristine beach, observing terns, noddies, and tropicbirds nesting. Picnic lunch prepared by the chef beneath palm shade, then snorkel the lagoon’s coral shelves.
Day 9 – Port Sud-Est & Local Encounters
Sail to Port Sud-Est to visit a fishing hamlet known for traditional octopus drying and boat building. Join a Creole cooking workshop with a local family before returning to the yacht for an afternoon at anchor in calm, shallow water.
Day 10 – Rodrigues Highlands & Coastal Hikes
Go ashore to explore the island’s highlands — Mont Limon viewpoints and small vanilla plantations. Optional guided hike to Trou d’Argent, a secret cove framed by limestone cliffs. Return for sunset cocktails on the flybridge.
